It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Pat Brown of Hubbards on June 28th. He passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ellen of 51 years; children Jason (Cheryl) Brown, Jennifer (Alex) Pink; grandchildren, Cam and Ben Brown, Julia, Lydia, and Sam Pink; sister Marlene (Leonard) Oakley, and brothers Barry (Doris) Brown, and Brad (Tina) Brown. He was predeceased by his father Allan Brown and mother Elizabeth Glenister.
Pat was a dedicated Scotiabanker for 38 years. He worked in various branches within Halifax taking on managerial and leadership positions. He wrapped up his career in Turks and Caicos Islands in the wealth management division. Throughout his career, due to his kind and caring presence, he established lifelong friendships.
Pat lived a fulfilling life doing the things he loved. He was a junior Canadian ballroom dancer which prepared him for the endless dancing with his wife, whether that be at the Shore Club, special events or in the living room. His other passions included spending time with family and friends, travelling, fall hiking, golfing, hunting, sailing/boating, downhill skiing, and spending endless hours in Hubbards, whether that be on the beach or at the cottage they shared with their wonderful friends, Mike and Patty, and their son Chris.
After retirement Pat and Ellen travelled across Canada and the U.S. in their RV (Bitterman). Later taking winding road trips in Pat’s beloved convertible, Maudie. Pat and Ellen expanded their travel to Portugal, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, and riverboat cruising from Budapest to Amsterdam. All the while making many new friends along their way.
Pat was a true gentleman with positive energy and an inquisitive nature. His curiosity for the people he met enabled him to remember names like no other. His quick wit and sense of humor had everyone in the room smiling. He was a big part of many lives that extended past his immediate family. The outpouring of love and support our family is receiving is a true testament of the man he was.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at South Shore Hospital in Bridgewater for the care and compassion they provided Pat during his final days.
Visitation will be held at JA Snow Funeral Home at 339 Lacewood Drive in Halifax on July 10th from 4pm to 7pm.
