She took her last breath at 3:15am on August 3, 2020. She had been unresponsive and labouring with breathing at the time, though with no sign of distress. She took her last breath as if readying herself for an underwater dive and then was gone beneath the cosmic waters.
Gully was survived by her sons, David and Dan and her granddaughter Janis Johnson.
She had survived her husband of 22 years, Earl, by half a century.
Before marriage Gully had trained as a nurse at the Halifax Infirmary and later went on to become an X-ray Technician.
After her husband's death she opened the South Gate Tavern in the old Capital Theatre Building on Barrington Street until being bought out during the planning of construction for the MT&T Building.
She went on to have a third career in the auction business, running Miller and Johnson Auctioneers with her brother George Miller for many years until her retirement.
She came from a large family consisting of three brothers, William, Arthur and George and a sister, Marion.
For the many who loved her, she will be missed.
