Michelle Dianne Kennedy, age 33 of Halifax, passed away August 15, 2014, at the VG Hospital. It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful daughter, Michelle. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Leo Kennedy and Barbara Nichols-Kennedy. Graduate of Sir John A MacDonald High School and Make-up Artistry and Hairstyling at the Hair Design Centre, Halifax. She was employed with the Salon Resource Group at the “HS Studio” located in Halifax. She was an avid soccer fan, having played soccer from the age of 5 into her 20’s, loved dancing (Jazz, tap) and Ballroom. She was a strong swimmer having achieved her life guard credentials. Michelle lived in Australia for a year, travelled to Europe, Thailand, Caribbean, Mexico and Fiji. Survived by her parents, Leo and Barbara; brother, Ian Kennedy of Montreal; grandparents, Jim and Laura (Lewis/Nichols) Frost, New Minas; aunt, Betty Ann (Roger) Tweedy, Kentville; uncles, John Kennedy, Florida, Vincent (Rhonda) Kennedy, Winnipeg, Stephen (Faith) Kennedy, Halifax; cousins, Christine (Jim) Mawby, Edmonton, Fred (Jessica) Kennedy, Ajax, ON, Scott Grant, Toronto, John (Angel) Nichols, Grand Prairie, AB, Angela Nichols, Amsterdam, Jenna Kennedy, Halifax. Also her constant companion and dog love of her life, Bones. Predeceased by paternal grandparents, John and Christina Kennedy, Glace Bay; maternal grandfather, John Richard Nichols, Digby; uncle, Paul Kennedy, Toronto, John Nichols, Digby.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with a memorial service on Sunday, August 24 at 1:00 pm, both in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax (455-0531). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feed NS or charity of your choice. Special thank you to her friends, Amanda, Julia, Krista, Kristen, Kelly and Kirsha and countless others which are too many to mention. She was truly loved and supported during her 2 year battle with cancer. She loved and inspired everyone who was touched by her spirit. Also a special thank you to Dr. Paul Johnson, Dr. Bruce Colwell, Dr. Erin Corsten (Palliative Care) and all of the staff on 7A Palliative Care 6th floor of the VG Hospital. We cannot thank Palliative Care enough for their TLC and compassion while Michelle was a patient there.
