Purcell, Mary Grace – 79, of Bedford passed away peacefully on October 15, 2012 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Mary was born in Halifax on July 30, 1933 to loving parents Reginald and Iselda (Young) Publicover and lived a life of generosity and devotion. Her love and devotion to her husband of 56 years, Donald Purcell and to her children Barry Purcell, Christine Purcell, Marlene (Purcell) Gibbons and son-in-law Paul Gibbons was infinite and a blessing felt by all. Mary also showered her love and devotion on her 2 grandchildren Colby and Jordan Gibbons. Mary is predeceased by her sister Viola (Eldon) Clattenburg of Pleasant Harbour, and is survived by her brothers, Norman and James (Janet) Publicover of Halifax, and her sister Shirley Case of Burlington, ON. Mary touched the lives of so many people through her generous spirit, and her volunteer work included 10 years of service at the Grace Maternity Hospital, leader of the Jr. Girls Auxiliary of All Saints Anglican Church, 1st Treasurer of Bedford Minor Hockey, and uncountable hours lending a hand in service of her community, including endless hours of knitting donations for those in need. Mary lived a life of joy, enriched by her love of family, friends, gardening, sewing, and knitting. A celebration of Mary’s life will take place at All Saints Anglican Church, 1408 Bedford Hwy, on Thursday, Oct. 18th at 2 pm. Condolences may also be email to [email protected].
