Family and religion were an important part of Mary’s life. She was an active member of The Cathedral Church of All Saints. She found time while raising her family to be involved in many volunteer organizations- New Leaf Enterprises, March of Dimes, Easter Seals, Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Hospital, Neptune Theatre Foundation and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Mary is survived by her children: Valerie Arnason (Peter) Ryan, Graham (Susan) Opie, and Sheleagh (Joseph) Donahue, grandchildren: Stephen (Lisa) Arnason, Esther (Jamie) MacDonald, Sarah and Kirk Opie, Josh (Rebecca) Donahue, Christin (Brian) Monaghan, and Adam (Lauren) Donahue, great grandchildren: Julia, Cameron and Kate Arnason, Ian and Ailish Donahue, Mairin Monaghan, and Conor and Tyler Donahue. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Cessie, Annette and Michael.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, parents Fred and Annie Craig, brothers Donald, Bruce, George and Charlie, son in law Terry Arnason and granddaughter Kimberly Arnason.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 21, 2017 at 1:00 pm in J A Snow Funeral Home , 339 Lacewood Drive Halifax.
Our family would like to express appreciation to the dedicated staff at 4B, VGH and Melville Lodge. Donations in memory of Mary can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia. Our mother and friend will be greatly missed. She used her unique sense of humour and love of family and friends to embrace a wonderful life of 94 years.
