Karen Marlene Arron died comfortably Thursday March 16th 2023 near Vancouver British Columbia, with her children at her side. Born and raised in Halifax Nova Scotia, Marlene attended Dalhousie university on scholarship and became the first student to ever graduate from the Dalhousie School of Dental Hygiene.
She moved to Montreal where she worked and met her first husband Lawrence Green,but after having children, the family returned to Halifax in 1969. Always willing to get involved, Marlene contributed at her children’s school and for many more years, she volunteered in diverse leadership roles within the local Jewish community. After divorce and remarriage, she was known in and around Halifax first as an insurance agent, and later as a property manager.
In 2021, after 30 years of increasing struggle with a progressive neurological condition, Marlene moved to British Columbia to be closer to her children. This past week, she bravely chose to take control of her final few days.
Marlene is survived by her children, Howard Green (Andrea), Stefanie Perelmuter (JeanMarc), her four grandchildren Yaacov, Carly, Sam and Sara, and her sisters Shirlee Medjuck (Ralph) and Gitty Kastner.
Funeral will be held Sunday March 19th at 12:00pm, graveside, at the Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, in Halifax, NS. Shiva will commence following the funeral until 4pm and will continue 11am - 4pm on both Monday (20th) and Tuesday (21st) at the Lord Nelson Hotel, Admiral Room.
