Beanlands (Clergy), Marion Agnes – It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Marion (Clergy) Beanlands, 88, of Halifax, at the Victoria General Hospital, on March 21st, 2013. She was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Drake) Clergy of Petpeswick. Marion married the love of her life, Aubrey, on May 3rd, 1949, and they remained happily married for 63 years. Marion worked briefly at the H.M.C. Dockyard and at Simpsons, later becoming a stay-at-home mother to daughter Brenda. She liked to bowl and play darts and was a past member of the Chief’s and P.O.’s Mess at Windsor Park. Marion enjoyed weekends with the family at Grand Lake and vacationing at St. Pete’s Beach in Florida for many springs. She was known for her quick wit and generosity, leaving family and friends with many warm-hearted memories. Marion cherished her family, and she showed great pride in their accomplishments, never missing a birthday, graduation or other milestone. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Aubrey Beanlands, Halifax; daughter, Brenda (Michael) Richards, Lower Sackville; granddaughters, Jennifer (Dana) Simonsen, Dartmouth; Julie Richards, Dartmouth; and great-grand children, Sadie and Jakob Simonsen, her pride and joys. She is also survived by sisters, Frances (Peter) Awalt, Victoria, BC; Effie (Frank) Gardner, Halifax; and brothers, Gerrard (Anne) Clergy, Tillsonburg, ON; and Roderick (Kay) Clergy, Braintree, Mass. She was predeceased by sister, Madeline (William) Earle. We would like to give a special thank you to Joy, for all of her kindness and support over the past few months. A thank you as well to the nurses at the Halifax Infirmary and V.G. Hospitals. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at this time, by family request. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, March 27 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Benedict Church on Radcliffe Drive, Halifax; reception to follow. Private family burial will take place following the reception at The Gate of Heaven, Lower Sackville. Arrangements have been entrusted to J.A.
