It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Marie Allen, 66, of Halifax, on May 1, 2019. She passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family and friends. Born August 20, 1952 in Halifax, Marilyn's younger days were spent living in different pockets of the province eventually settling and spending the last 13 years of her life in Bedford.
After retiring from her dedicated work with Prescott Group, Marilyn truly became a lady of leisure spending each and every day doing exactly as she pleased. She was a lover of the outdoors and spent countless hours enjoying her back porch swing. Marilyn had a zest for life and was always up for an adventure. If you were fortunate enough to have met Marilyn, it was a guarantee that you'd never forget her. She had a magnetism that drew loyal and faithful friends into her life. She mastered the art of embracing the moment and truly found joy in the simple things. Marilyn had an incredible sense of humour and a laugh so hearty it would fill the room. Marilyn, quite simply put, was a gift.
She was predeceased by her father, Daniel Allen, of Shelburne; her mother, Mary Jane (Hamilton) Allen, of Halifax; and her sister, Margaret Ryan. She is survived by brother-in-law, Leslie Ryan; niece, Lesley Jane Ryan and children. Marilyn will be sadly missed by her housemates and she also leaves behind a posse of loyal companions who supported her whole heartedly in life and in death. Marilyn's life will be celebrated in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9th, 2019. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Halifax.
