Marie Grace Laba

Laba, Marie Grace It is with great sadness that the family of Marie Grace Laba announce her death at the age of 96 on March 23,2012 in the Halifax Infirmary,QEII. Born in Armdale , Marie was the eldest of five daughters of Harry and Gertrude ( Brunt) Kennedy. Marie was predeceased by her husband Joseph Laba, her sisters Doris Doherty and Ethel Beed and their husbands, Ray Doherty and Bert Beed. At the age of 2years, Marie was a survivor of the Halifax Explosion. After her marriage, Marie and Joe lived on Edward Street and successfully owned and operated a Post office near the corner of Edward Street and Coburg Rd. Marie recently left her beloved marital home to reside at The Berkley on Gladestone Street. Marie will be sadly missed by her sisters Hazel Keddy of Dartmouth and Mary White of Toronto as well as nieces, nephews and good friends. Funeral Mass will be 11am Tuesday March 27, 2012 in Marie’s childhood Church , St. John The Baptist Catholic Church , Purcell’s Cove Road and will be officiated by her nephew and good friend Fr. Kenneth Keeler. Reception to follow. Donations in memory of Marie may be made to the CNIB. Private family burial at a later date.
