Marie Lynette Dupuis

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lynette Marie Dupuis, age 64 of Dartmouth. Lynette passed away peacefully, November 5, 2017, at home, with her loving husband at her side. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Rita Comeau (Grandy) and Mederic Comeau. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Alain Dupuis; her sons, Eric and Brian; and grandchildren, Noah and Lily. Lynette completed her High School at the Mount St-Vincent Academy and graduated from Saint Mary's University with her BComm ('74). Lynette dedicated her life caring for others and mainly children. For 23 years, she actively supported the Block Parent Program of Canada in Cole Harbour, Gloucester, Ont., and Victoria, B.C. She served as chairperson of the Cole Harbour Westphal Block Parent Association, and treasurer on the Nova Scotia Block Parent Advisory Board. She joined the National Board of Directors as treasurer in 2002 and held that position until 2006. For her hard work and dedication, she was given the Jubilee medal in 2002. She was awarded the Block Parent gold pin then the jeweled pin and eventually was welcomed as Honorary Life Member of the Block Parent Program of Canada. This was a very exclusive group as she was only the 11th person to have received this honor in the 43-year history of the Program. For many years, she was a Scout Leader in Ottawa and Victoria. She also volunteered countless hours at various schools as library assistant, special events coordinator, and computer instructor. She was a remarkable wife supporting the naval career of her husband for 35 years. Lynette was very active in sports and dance. She was a figure skater, a ballet dancer, and member of the provincial volleyball team. She loved bowling and enjoyed traveling. Visitation will be held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax on Tuesday, November 7th, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, November 8th, at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Benedict Church, 45 Radcliffe Dr., Halifax. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the NSHA Central Zone Palliative Care Service as well as the VON for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lynette's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
