With the greatest sadness, in the world, along with heaviest hearts and sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Marie of Ottawa Ont, on August 21, 2024 at home.
Marie was born on April 7,1957 in Africville Halifax, NS, raised in Uniacke Square, Halifax, NS. As the years went by Marie, later than migrated to Ontario, to be closer to her sisters. Marie was a woman of remarkable character, dedicated her life to serving others through various occupations including caregiving, hospitality and construction at an early age. Along with helping to care for her siblings Marie, started out working at Stadacona as a Janitor for a number of years also a Chambermaid at The Lord Nelson Hotel where her role kept her there for a long period of time. Marie was also in the Construction field, where she was demolishing and rebuilding buildings. Marie was a jack of all trades. But most of all Marie was a Caregiver throughout all her life something she did with pride and love.
Marie loved cleaning, cooking, singing, dancing, carrying on, Family Functions/Reunions, traveling and she also loved to be the center of attention, no one could take that from her with the spark that she already had naturally. With her bold personality she never bit her tongue, she always expressed how she felt, rather if you liked it or not. Marie's devotion of love for people was reflected in her various roles and ways.
Marie was a child of God, she was a woman of strong faith and her love for God was evident, she loved the Lord with all her heart and she would let it be known. Marie was the life of any party, where ever her presence was, she left a mark. Marie was so vibrant, caring, free hearted, loving, outspoken, comical, and a burst of energy. When it came to style and fashion she could not be matched. She was a Class Act.
She was affectionately known, most referred to her as Patti Labelle.
Marie will always be celebrated for her impeccable character, her presence, charm and free spirit, lightening up every room she entered. Marie had a heart of Gold and she would give you the shirt from off her back with all the love in the world to go along with it. With Maries joyful energy, presence and spirt, she lit up the lives of everyone she came in counter with. Marie was just that Lady. Marie will be missed tremendously, but her spirit will forever live on in our hearts forever and ever. Marie is survived by her one and only loving cherished son, Jermaine, N.S, Grandchildren Courtney B.C and Lydell N.S. Great Grandchildren, Lilyanna, Braelynn and Penelope. Brothers John (Sharon) AB, Blenn (Oriole) AB, Lloyd AB, David N.S, Floyd N.S. Sisters Darlene N.S, April ON, Rosella ON. Many Nieces and Nephews who looked up to her as a Mother figure and Role Model.
Marie is predeceased by her long-time companion Robert Plunkett. Parent’s Edward and Bernadine Carvery (Izzard). Grandparents Daniel and Marjory Izzard (Dixon), Edward and Rosella Carvery (Sparks) and Step Grandmother Louise Izzard (Thomas). Brother James. Sisters Paula, Glenda and Rose. Nephews Lydell and Jaurmar.

All are welcomed to honor her life and celebrate her. There will be a celebration of life at Cruikshank's Funeral Home Halifax, N.S. On November 16, 2024. Interment will take place after at Oakridge Ridge Memorial Gardens Lower Sackville, N.S.
