October 31, 1938 – August 21, 2014, Halifax. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louise Johnson in the Victoria General Hospital. She was surrounded by her family. Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and was completely dedicated to her family. Born in Churchover, she was the daughter of the late James and Mildred Dedrick, and predeceased by her brother Roger. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her husband of 50 years Roy (Ted), her sons Paul, Jeffrey and Michael, her daughter-in-laws Ellen, Nancy and Tina and her grandchildren Julie, Katarina and Curt. After graduating Shelburne High School, Louise moved to Halifax and worked for Nova Scotia Light & Power for 12 years, the majority of that time serving as the private secretary for the President and General Manager. For many years Louise was an active and faithful member of The Parish of St. Peter’s Anglican Church and subsequently St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church. Additionally, she served on the Altar Guild and the Visiting Care Group of the later, tirelessly giving of herself to provide assistance and comfort to others. The family gratefully acknowledges the wonderful care Louise received from Drs. Grimshaw and Bentley and their respective teams, as well as the Palliative Care group at Victoria General Hospital. A funeral service will be held at St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church on Robie Street in Halifax on Monday, August 25 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Division in memory of Louise Johnson or by check to the St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church Altar Guild, 3751 Robie Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia B3K 4T3.
