It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of beloved husband, father and brother, Kevin Donald McIsaac of Bedford on July 27th, 2024. Kevin suffered a stroke in early July, and although he seemed to rally, complications ultimately took him from us far too soon.
Kevin was born in Halifax, NS on May 15th, 1959 to the late Charlie and Marie McIsaac. He was the third son in their large brood of nine children and was proud to be a Halifax Northender. Kevin was a talented carpenter, starting out in the family business with his father and two of his brothers, and then becoming a joiner at the Halifax Shipyards. He was injured on the job and chronic neck pain forced him into an early retirement. Kevin loved cars and bikes and we heard many stories … not always legal ones…about his all time favourites: his TR6, the Chevelle and his Goldwing. Only he thought that racing cars across the bridge or driving to Montreal in nine hours were exciting accomplishments. Kevin enjoyed helping out friends and neighbours, from snowblowing, or making trips to the airport, to killing a pesky spider or rat! He enjoyed fishing and hunting, country music and being a fur dad to his cats and dogs over the years. He absolutely loved spending time at the family camp in Cape Breton. He loved the beach and would spend hours clearing trails and driving them on his ATV or side-by-side. Getting stuck in mud puddles was a thrill when he got to show off the power of his winch. He enjoyed talking to people and could strike up a conversation anytime, anywhere with anyone. He loved spending time with his wife of 36 years, Lori, and their daughters Katelyn and Robyn. He was so proud of them when he taught them how to throw a perfect spiral, drive a car, chop wood, and change their own car tires. The girls, however, recently took a backseat to granddaughter Annie and he loved to spoil her rotten.
Kevin is predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Marie McIsaac and brothers Donald and Paul. He is survived by his wife, Lori, daughters Katelyn (Aaron) and Robyn, the light of his life, his granddaughter Annabelle, brothers Barry, Gary (Paula), Patrick (Christine), Doug (Wilson), Chris, and sister Linda (George). He loved his nieces and nephews, Kristie Lee, Gerry (Kyra), Logan (Carolyn), Ryan (Kristin), Spencer (Caitlin) Madison, Jennifer (Richard), Scott (Briana), Maiti and Thomas.
The family would like to thank the many nurses and doctors at the QE11 Halifax Infirmary for their wonderful care during his time there.
Visitations will be held Friday, August 2nd 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00, and a celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 3rd at 2:00, all at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, N.S. Reception to follow. In accordance with Kevin’s wishes we ask guests to dress casually, preferably jeans and a plaid shirt!
