POWER, Joan Owen – Passed away peacefully on February 9, 2011 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Bridgewater, Joan was the daughter of the late George and Violet (Owen) Toomey. She moved to Halifax in 1938 where she attended Halifax Ladies College (Armbrae Academy). Joan trained as a dental lab technician and worked in her chosen field until 1947 when she married Roy Mack Power of Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband. Joan is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Power, Halifax. Joan has a keen interest in world affairs and provincial politics volunteering for many fro many years with the Liberal Party. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, March 18 in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. No visitation by request. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Donations may be made in her name to the heart and stroke foundation of Nova Scotia.
