Joan was born in Mader’s Cove, Nova Scotia on January 24, 1936. She married Thomas J.M. Holland on October 9, 1954; they were married 54 years.
As a young woman while living in Spryfield, Joan met Tom at a dance and with dad’s charm and persistence they were married. Joan was a loving and caring mother and wife and a fantastic homemaker always ensuring that her family were well cared for. In Joan’s early years she worked for Maple Leaf Dairy, and later for Scotia Fuels, Cunard Fuels and the Head Shop. Joan enjoyed her time spent with the neighborhood ladies playing bridge and was involved as a volunteer with the mentally challenged.
Joan is survived by her sons, David Holland of Halifax, NS, Chris (Marlene) Holland of Lucasville, NS; grandsons, Bryce Holland of Halifax, NS, Brandon Holland of Lucasville, NS; and daughter Tracy (Shaun) Grant of Halifax, NS; granddaughters, Samantha & Hannah Grant of Halifax, NS as well as Lilly her cat.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Clair (Eisenhauer) Knock of Maders Cove, Nova Scotia, brother Douglas Knock and sister’s Lucille (Knock) Young, Hazel (Knock) Tanner, and her late husband of 54 years, Thomas Holland of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
