My condolences to the Adams family, the loss of a good man.
I met Harold the fall of 80 as he was my Steward on my first training trip in the Diner. Shared his experiences and encouraged me to absorb the ups & downs of passenger rail services and a long career could be possible. I eventually changed departments but we were colleagues having moments before or after most of his trips. Still would run into each other after his retirement. I viewed the service today recalling cherished memories, thanks for the opportunity!  Lou Walsh ( VIA retiree 2018)

Like the joy and happiness that he spread around him.
We will always cherish all the precious and unique moments we shared with him.In Halifax, in Montreal, on the phone, on FaceTime…
We saved your voice messages and we smile when we hear you say : "Katherine, you’re never home! It’s your uncle Harold calling just to say hello…"
Have a safe trip home to the light uncle Harold.
Although we will miss you, there is laughter, a smile inside of us where we can find you. 
I know aunt Catherine, my father, my aunt and uncles will be so happy to hear you laugh again up there. 
Thank you for everything and mostly for being you.

I'm heartbroken at the loss of "Uncle" Harold. When I was a little girl visiting Creighton Street I was always happy when uncle Harold was there. He always had a smile and took the time to talk to me and ask me about what was going on. As I became a young woman, he never changed, but saw his kindness and genuine nature for what it was. His kind words never stopped. His interest in what I was up to was always there. He was supportive when I lost my dad even though he was hurting too. I loved him very much and I will miss that smile.
My heartfelt condolences to all Harold's children and everyone else who lost him as a loved one, friend, mentor or acquaintance.  He made the world a bit better for all of us. Take care of each other and lots of love.

I would like to start by saying your father was a very exceptional man and one of a kind.  I met you so many years ago growing up with your children. Not knowing anything at all but you being Mr Adams to me.  From your children to their friends you made us all feel special.  Never knowing how close we would become over the years you being best friends with my uncle, and I with Susie Q.. You exemplify the facts of a good man to all the people around you from far and near.  I thank you for sharing your kindness with the Mentis and Smith family. From walking me down the aisle at my wedding, our wonderful trip to the Cabot Trail, and the generous hospitality shown to us on our many return visits to Nova Scotia. He was a proud Maritimer and was always eager to show us around the improvements in the growing City of Halifax.  Uncle Harold's love, assistance,  and compassion shown to my Mother, his Sister Dorothy, in her final days will never be forgotten, and could never be repaid.  These memories will be cherished forever.  Thank you for sharing your Dad with me, sharing your Dad with us. 
It is said that "Grief is the price we pay for love",  and you know that your Dad was much loved by Lawrence and myself.
To have known him was to have loved him.
