It is with great sadness that the family of Graham Lawson Thomas announce his death at the age 86, on Nov 27, 2024. Graham passed away peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary. Graham was the son of Doris(Garrison) and Captain H. Lawson Thomas, OBE. He was born and raised in Halifax and enjoyed many happy summers in Boutlier’s Point with his grandparents. Graham’s career saw him enter Surgical/ Medical Sales Industry where he remains fondly remembered by many for his big smile and unwavering support. He retired at the age of 59 and he and his wife, Joan, enjoyed many winters on the golf courses of Florida. Graham was an avid golfer though it is said that Joan had more “hole in ones”. Graham also curled out of the Mayflower and participated in many bonspiels. Graham faced adversity head on and when health issues resulted in a urostomy, he not only mastered his own care, he mentored others going through similar experiences. He was an active member of the local Ostomy Halifax Society. He was a dedicated volunteer at the Cobequid Centre, the Victoria General, and the Halifax Infirmary. He was a parishioner at St. James Anglican Church. Following his wife Joan’s passing, he became an active member of the Parkland community and was involved in 45's, poker, pub night, and a whiskey or two with a few mates. He is survived by his sons, Derek (Holly), Ronnie (Aileen) and daughter Shelley Lynch (Terry), Sister Ann (Capt. Gordon deVries), grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was blessed with many special friends …they know how much they meant to Graham. He was sadly predeceased by wife Joan, both parents, sister Marlene, nephew Doug Mullinger, and grandson Brandon Thomas. Cremation is complete and a celebration of life will take place on Dec 7. 2024 at 3pm The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
