BLACKBURN, Gerald Thomas – 85, of Halifax passed away December 9, 2010 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII Health Sciences Centre after a brief illness. Born September 12, 1925 in Halifax, he was the only child of Catherine Blackburn. Jerry worked most of his adult life at the Halifax dockyard and retired after many years of faithful service.
He was a long time member of St. Mary’s Basilica and attended regularly until his illness. Jerry is survived by many cousins of the Blackburn and Gordon families. He was predeceased by his mother Catherine, his grandmother Mary (Sheehan) Blackburn, aunts and uncles, Mary (Doll) and Mike Blackburn, Grace Blackburn, Francis (Nap) Blackburn, Mary and William Gordon.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Basilica on Wednesday, December 15th at 10:00 a.m. Please visit www.jasnowfuneralhome.com.
