Passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 28 2021 at the QEII Health Sciences Center at the age of 68, after a long and courageous battle with Bulbar onset ALS. She was born in Halifax and was the daughter of the late Charles and Phyllis (Tillie) MacDonald.
Gail was always the bright and shining light of any social gathering wherever she went. As a young girl she skated with the Bluenose Figure Skating Club at the Halifax Forum. Having retired from the Health Association of Nova Scotia a number of years ago, she took one day at a time and always enjoyed life to the fullest. Gail spent many years as a summer resident at the Sherwood Forest Camping Park in the Annapolis Valley where she made many lasting friendships.
She is survived by her husband Blair and her two children, Ryan and Natalie Carr and her stepsons, Edward (Cheryl), Ian (Lisa), Blair (Kelly) and her grandchildren Shelby, Brooke, Molly, Cole, Lexi, Ashley and Mackenzie. In addition, her sister Barbara Bower and brother Greg MacDonald (Colleen) and her sister in-law Sheila Gammon and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her favourite brother in-law Robert Bower.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to her very special cousin friend Nancey (Sis) Trueman who cared for Gail during her illness. Special thanks to Dr. Suzanne Salsman, the Rehab Team and the VON Nurses and medical staff at the QEII for their excellent care as well as the ALS Society for their continued support.
Arrangements have been entrusted to J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. There will be no visitation by her request.
