It is with profound and heartbreaking sadness that we announce the death of Evelyn C. Slaunwhite on October 2nd, 2022. Born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland, on April 5th, 1942 and growing up in Bishop’s Falls, she moved to Halifax as a young girl, to complete Nursing School. She dedicated her life to helping others, not just in the medical field, but in every walk of life. Her generous spirit, kind heart and glowing smile were evident to everyone she met. She had a wicked sense of humor, positive attitude, and knew how to make those around her laugh.
She is survived by her daughters; Margot (Woody) MacNeil and Amy (Robert) Marchand, as well as her son Trevor (Kristie) Slaunwhite; grandchildren – Connor MacNeil, Caden Slaunwhite and Jasmine Marchand; sisters - Betty Daniels, Mary (Paul) Brown and Carolyn (Frank) Lind, as well as her brother Tom (Nancy) Daniels.
She is predeceased by: her mother and father, Bride and Frank Daniels; sisters - Helen (Bill) Woods, Jean (Pete) Cooke, Grace (Gerry) Dunphy, Shirley (Ray) Gordon, and Bernice (John) Edwards; brothers - Reg (Doreen) Daniels and Bob (Evelyn) Daniels; as well as her good friend in life Allan Slaunwhite.
She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, life-long friends and neighbors. Through her life, in addition to having a career and raising a family, she was the Religious Education Coordinator for St. Christopher’s Parish in Hatchet Lake. As an active part of the religious community, she was always giving of her time to help as needed. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her. She lit up whenever her family were around her, and basked in the love that she received. She is no longer in pain or suffering, and is in the beautiful afterlife with Jesus our Savior. Our lives are forever changed.
In honoring Evelyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, NS.
