It is with great sadness we regret to announce the passing of Elizabeth Anne Conrad, age 73, on August 1, 2021, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Elizabeth fought a courageous battle against cancer, with her loving husband and family by her side to the end. Born in Liverpool, Elizabeth was the eldest daughter of the late Ralph and B. Daisy Connolly.
She graduated from the Nova Scotia Teachers College in 1969 and taught elementary school in Chester and Hatchet Lake. After the arrival of her first child, she chose to stay at home to focus on raising her family. She later volunteered at the local schools and with various community organizations, and worked with the Excel after-school program. Elizabeth loved music and enjoyed attending local music jams with her husband. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Ladies Group, and past member of the church choir. She enjoyed camping, square dancing and round dancing, baking, and playing Auction 45s.
She was very proud of her children and grandchildren, whom she cherished very much. Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bernard; children Jason (Tanya) Conrad, Peterborough, Ont., Anne (Chris) Slauenwhite, Jordan Falls, and Dr. David (Tara) Conrad, Bedford; grandchildren Abigail and Benjamin Conrad, Brooke and Drew Slauenwhite, Jack, Owen, Daniel, and twins Quinn and Max Conrad; and sisters Bonnie (Norman) Wentzell and Beverley Connolly. She was predeceased by her brother William “Bill” Connolly.
Her family is grateful for the care and support she received from all the staff at the Palliative Care unit of the VG. Their care, compassion, and kindness will not be forgotten.
