Macdonald, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann – 78, of Halifax, passed away Thursday, February 14th, 2013, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII surrounded by family. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Power) Gates. Betty was an avid sports fan. She played softball and bowled in several bowling leagues in Halifax. Most of her summers were spent playing cards and tossing horseshoes while camping at Camelot and Beechbrook campgrounds . She is survived by husband Ronald; sons Patrick (Patricia) MacDonald, Joseph (Marie Surette) and Kevin; sisters Mary (Joseph) Newell, Jacqueline (Harold) Haley; cherished grandchildren James and Brittany, and several nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Dr. Bussey and the nursing and medical staff of 8.4. Visitation will be held at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home from 7-9 PM on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at St. Agnes Church, Mumford Road, Father John Williams officiating, with reception to follow. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
