Edward (Ted) Joseph Meagher, 73, passed away on January 27, 2024 at Northwood’s Ivany Place Campus, Bedford. Ted was born in Halifax to the late Eric Meagher and Leonora (Wannell) Meagher. Ted spent his childhood years in Waverley where he enjoyed ice hockey, swimming, and paddling at Cheema Canoe Club. In 1972, he proudly won a gold medal in junior war canoe at the Canadian Canoe Championships held in Winnipeg. Ted loved the outdoors and spent many hours hunting and fishing in his younger years. He worked for Farmer’s Dairy and Feed Nova Scotia for a number of years and then for Manheim Auto Auctions until his retirement. He was a kind and thoughtful person, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his sister Suzzette (Ben) Pryde, Lower Sackville; sisters-in-law Carol Meagher, Bedford; and Liz Crowley Meagher, Hammonds Plains; niece Krista Meagher; nephews Michael Meagher, Shawn Meagher, and Adam Pryde. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers John and Tony Meagher; and nieces Tracey and Kimberley Meagher.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Northwood’s Ivany Place Campus, Bedford for the excellent care provided to Ted. Also, special thanks to Janice Cooper, Hearing & Speech Nova Scotia who always made herself available to Ted, even on her days off, and also to Liza Dubay, Northwood’s Ivany Place campus for her kindness and support during Ted’s difficult time.
Cremation is entrusted to J. A. Snow Funeral Home, Halifax. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, 18 Scholars Road, Upper Tantallon, NS.
