David Gerard Prowse

David lived a full, happy life for many years. He grew up and lived in Halifax most of his life; he was also very proud of his British roots as he was born in England and carried dual citizenship. David's career was interesting and varied from working in the retail clothing business, sales, insurance restoration, appraisal and repairs, as a crew supervisor and ice observer in the Beaufort Sea supporting drilling operations, until eventually he retired as a bank mortgage underwriter. David took on new job opportunities 'like a pro' with enthusiasm, commitment and always carried out his responsibilities with great competence and pride. Some of his hobbies and personal interests included working as a volunteer for Halifax Metro Food Bank, he was a voracious reader, a member of Armdale Yacht Club and an avid sailor, a skilled photographer, he enjoyed building and creating things such as a kayak, a miniature working canon, and furniture pieces. He successfully earned a private pilot's license at age 18 when he was enrolled with the local air cadets.

David was very intelligent, unassuming and definitely did not have an ego; he was a man of few words, but did not mind a healthy debate as he liked to share his opinion most times. As a 'straight shooter', David had no patience or tolerance for hypocrisy in any form whatsoever. He had a quick wit as well as a unique and delightful sense of humor. He was always well dressed and enjoyed the finer qualities of life, especially a drink of the best Scotch from time to time! He was highly regarded by his friends, family, coworkers, and crew.

We enjoyed many years of travel which took us to interesting places such as Tunisia, numerous countries throughout Europe, Costa Rica, and many remote islands of the Caribbean, especially several trips to the beautiful island of Bequia where we were married in 1985. No doubt we would have had many more years of travel had David not been diagnosed with MS twenty-one years ago.

David was kind and generous to a fault, and loyal to everyone to the very end. He was content with his life and never complained or pitied himself throughout his illness; he often said "I don't do anger". David will be forever missed by those who were fortunate to know and love him.

Special thanks is extended to my family and our special friends who always embraced, loved and supported David to the end. I would also like to offer my heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Halifax Infirmary Emergency Department and a special thank you to the doctors and staff on '9 Lane'.

Donations in David's memory may be made to the MS Society of N.S./Canada or a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J.A. Snow's Funeral Home; there will be no visitation or funeral; a private farewell will be held at a later date.

We will meet again, David....your suffering is over and peace has finally come. I will miss you and love you forever...."Rona" xo
