David S. Cooper

Cooper, David Stanley - 71, of Bedford, passed away peacefully with Carolyn and Nicole by his side, in the QEII Palliative Care Unit after an inspirational 12 year journey with cancer. Even with his illness, Dave remained focused on living life to the fullest and retained his unique sense of humour right to the end. Many will remember Dave’s favorite saying, “It is what it is”, as he chose not to dwell on his illness but to enjoy each day as it came. Born in Halifax, he was the eldest son of the late Stanley and Edith (Wright) Cooper. Dave was well known within the construction industry throughout Nova Scotia and made many lasting friendships along the way. Dave started his career with D&M Construction, then as Site Superintendent with J.W. Lindsay Enterprises and Meridian Construction. He also oversaw constructions projects in both Latvia and Japan. As an avid golfer, he enjoyed every opportunity to hit the links with great friends and friendly competition. Dave was also one of the first members of Fox Hollow Golf Course. He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Carolyn (Brown), who walked with him every step of the way. Dave is also survived by his daughter, Nicole, Canmore, Alberta and family dog Griffin; brothers Wayne (Hazel), Halifax and Colin (Catherine), Bridgewater; sister Patricia (Ron) Veinot, Bridgewater; brother-in-law David (Bea) Brown, Bedford. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 19th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, July 20th, 2:00pm at All Saints Anglican Church in Bedford with Rev. Arran Thorpe officiating. Interment will be in All Saints Anglican Cemetery in Bedford.
