HARE, Brian Darrell — 57, of Halifax, passed away at home on the evening of Friday, July 13, 2012. Born August 3rd, 1954, to Reginald Ray Hare and Catherine Mary "Polly" (Corbin) Hare in Picton, Ont. The family moved to Nova Scotia in 1960 and he grew up in Enfield where he attended Enfield District Elementary School. Throughout his youth he battled asthma with the continual support of his family. He graduated from Hants East Rural High School where he met his future wife, Teresa Rankin, whom he married in March 1977. He trained in Watch-Making and Jewelry Repair at the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology. Darrell raised his family in Halifax over the next 35 years, during which he pursued several careers, including financial services with Primerica, real estate development in Haliburton Heights and Hills, ultimately settling into his dream job as a Band Instrument Repair Technician with Long & McQuade. He is remembered by his brothers for a lifetime of fond memories, most notably their last trip together with him to the Turks and Caicos in 2008. He is widely remembered for his superlative ability as a communicator and compassionate listener, a skill which endeared him to co-workers wherever he worked and made him someone others turned to always for a kind ear and sound advice. It was also this skill which he put to use serving his church and community as a Counsellor for over 30 years - an activity in which he took immense pride and joy and for which he would most like to be remembered. Darrell would want us to give this message to anyone he so helped or counselled and to his many, many friends over the years: know that he never forgot you, hoped dearly that you were doing well and wishes you happiness always. He is survived by his mother, Catherine; his wife, Teresa and children, Simon Hare, Sarah Roode, Menolly Hare and Alixmaria Hare; his brothers, Peter, Terry and Wayne, and his granddaughter, Miah Kenzie Hare. He was predeceased by his father, Reg in 1972. Darrell Hare's memorial service will be held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home located at 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, on Wednesday, July 18th, beginning at 6 p.m. (service begins at 7 p.m.). All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lung Association of Nova Scotia. www.jasnowfuneralhome.com
