Son of Capt. Anthony John, RCN Retd. and Terry Ellen Goode (Keddy), Charles was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. A resident of Quebec since 1996, he is survived by his widow Jeanne, his loyal Golden Retriever Rupert, his twin brother Jonathan Goode and sister in-law Marta Zoladek, his niece Emilia Frances Keddy Goode, his father and his spouse, Patricia Matthews. He was pre-deceased by his mother and grandparents Murray and Hilda Keddy of Halifax, NS, and John and Frances Goode of Toronto, ON, and London, UK.
He was a graduate of Kings-Edgehill School and Bishop’s University. Charles was an avid rugby player, referee, and mentor, coaching Bishop’s Varsity Rugby program from 2012 to 2019 as well as the Sherbrooke Abenakis.
Charles taught English and coached for 20 years at the Seminaire de Sherbrooke. Throughout his career as a teacher and coach, he touched many young lives, many of whom went on to successful careers due in part to his dedication.
Charles passed away suddenly on White Point Beach not far from his summer home.
A celebration of life was held on 1:00 pm, August 5, 2023, at Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, QC.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a scholarship fund to be announced later.
His life will also be celebrated at a service and reception at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS. August 12, 2023, at 2PM.
