It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty May Stuart (Whynot) of Halifax. Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax on October 1, 2020.
Born in Milton, Queens County on March 31, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Brenton and Annie Ellen Whynot. She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Dan) McNeil; her sons David (Manon), Allan (MaryAnn), and Alex, all from Halifax; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Robyn (Phoenyx McNeil-Brown), Ryan (Robbie) Milton, Queens County, Melissa (Scot Morris, Brooklyn and Brayden) Bedford, Jonathan (Cristina and James) Toronto, Robert of Halifax, Shawn (Jessica, Maddison, Wolf and Alice) Eastern Passage, Cory (Trisha) Halifax, Kelly (Caspar Bader, Switzerland), Nicole (John and Lennox) and Danielle, Halifax, and also survived by her special nephew Milford, Milton.
Betty was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years Robert Richard. Mom prayed every night over the past five years to join Dad. She missed him every day. Mom is also predeceased by her precious sons Robert (1970) and James (Jimmy) (2003). Mom was the last surviving member of her immediate family, brothers Carl, Bill, Morris, Brenton all from Milton, Irving, East Chester, and Owen, Sussex England, and sisters Gertrude (infant) and Marion, Milton. Mom spent the past 2.5 years in care at Ivany Place, Bedford, where she received excellent care and grew fond of several staff members who treated her with kindness.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation. A private ceremony at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery with family only, will take place on October 7, 2020.
