It is with great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Betty Marlene Purcell, age 93, on Saturday, December 14, 2024 surrounded by family. She was the daughter of John and Rosalind (Redden) Boyce.
Betty is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Wendy) of Whites Lake, Charles (Kim) of Bedford and Thomas (Kim) of Winnipeg; her grandsons, Kenneth W., Boyce, Adam (Alysha), Colin, Eric (Rebecca), Bradley, her step grandchildren, Matthew and Laura Gardner; her great granddaughter Reina; her sister Connie Verran and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Kenneth.
Having lost her father at a young age, Betty was devoted to making all who she met feel loved and welcomed. Throughout her life, she continued to grow an ever expanding circle of family and loved ones through her acts of selflessness and kindness. She was thoughtful and caring and would be the first person to celebrate her loved ones special occasions and milestones. She had a positive and cheerful outlook on life even as she neared the end.
Together with husband Ken, they led a happy and fulfilled life, built a loving home, raised their family, supported loved ones and their church and community. They also had time to travel the world.
Betty was an early member of Saint Margaret of Scotland Church. She cherished and loved her many roles in life including: basketball player, X-ray technician, statistician, loving mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, friend, card player, and knitter. Betty will be forever missed by all who knew her.
