It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our mother/grandmother, Betty on February 2, 2023.
Betty was born in Eastern Passage in 1934 to the late Ethel Marie Bellfontaine, Betty had fond memories of growing up in Halifax and spending her summers in the passage with her grand parents.
Betty met and married the love of her life Doug Daley in 1952, together they raised their family, 3 sons and a daughter. Betty was a kind and compassionate person who spent countless hours volunteering at Hope Cottage always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, she was also a faithful member of St. Catherine’s Parish serving on the alter for many years as well as helping deliver meals at Christmas. Betty stayed active, playing bingo,darts and quilting were just a few of her hobbies, she developed many friendships along the way and we know she will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Douglas Earle Daley (1999) her daughter Donna (2020), infant son Stephen and her sister Margaret Bolch.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Judy), Darrell (Donna), David (Carolann) her sister Helen Ogden, 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
There will not be a visitation by Betty's request. Funeral will be held on Thursday February 9th at 1:30 pm in St. Catherine’s Church, Bayers Rd, Halifax. Interment will take place on February 10th at 2:30 pm in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
