Born in Brookfield, NS, she was the daughter of Floyd Miller and Ruth Miller (Weaver).
In 1964, the Miller family moved from Brookfield to Halifax where Barb completed high school and subsequently entered the healthcare field. She worked as a nurse in the Neo-natal Unit of the ICU at the IWK Hospital, followed by several years in medical research with Dalhousie University.
Caring and kindness defined her life. At every turn, she was there to help out her family, close friends and patients with sound advice and generous support. A Master Gardner, Barb enjoyed many hours pruning and weeding in her beautiful gardens in her retirement years. She was also an avid knitter and donated hundreds of hats and scarves to Halifax hospitals for patients needing them when returning home from hospital care.
Barb was predeceased by her husband, Wallace Mills, and youngest sister, Emma Tigerheart. She is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey Brunt and Matthew Brunt; her two sisters, Wendy Jeans and Faye Thompson and one brother, David Miller; her three grandchildren, Aiden Brunt, Blake Brunt and Samuel Brunt; as well as several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.
As per Barb’s wishes, a family ceremony will be held later in the Spring.
