Barbara Joan Hyslop (Migel), age 63, passed away peacefully with her children at her side on March 1st, 2021 at Hospice Halifax. Born in Halifax on October 25th, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Lillian and Paul Migel. She was also predeceased by her husband Peter, sister Carolyn, and dear friend Betty.
She is survived by her children, daughter Gillian (Joseph) and son Robert, of Halifax; brothers Dennis (Melvina), of Burlington, ON, Paul (Janice), of Halifax, and Michael and David, of Halifax; sisters Kathy (George), of Halifax, and Linda (Steve), of Meagher’s Grant; as well as two generations of nieces and nephews, and her life-long friend Sylvia Collier.
Barb grew up in South End Halifax, and upon her marriage moved to Lower Sackville, where she began her long career at the Bank of Montreal. The family relocated to Alberta, first High River, then Calgary, in the 90s, and she was overjoyed to return to Halifax in 2007. Those who knew her will miss her laugh, her steadfast honesty, and her fierce, unwavering commitment to her loved ones.
Her children would like to express their deepest thanks to Hospice Halifax. Their care allowed us to be fully present for her, which is a priceless gift. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a memorial contribution be made to Hospice Halifax.
A service will be held at J. A. Snow’s Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on March 6th at 1:00 p.m. AST. The Catholic Funeral Service, performed by Deacon David Viscount, will be livestreamed, which can be found at https://funeraweb.tv/diffusions/25507
