With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear sweet Barbara “Jeanne” Bowden shortly after celebrating her 82nd birthday. Jeanne passed away on June 28th in the care of Arbourstone Enhanced Care.
Born in Halifax on June 27, 1940 she was the daughter of the late James & Alice (Muise) Bowden.
She is survived by her sister and very best friend Anne Marie Bowden, brother in law Cecil, niece & goddaughter Heather (Michael), nieces Lori (Jake) & Lisa (Miguel) and nephew Andrew (Jamie). Great nieces & nephews Emma, Abbie, Keaton, Kaleb, Dominik, Alicja, Hugo, Ada & Hector.
She was predeceased by sisters Kaye (John) MacDonald, Claire Joudrey & Patsy Bowden (in infancy); and brother Chris Bowden.
Jeanne spent her working years at the old Maritime Tel & Tel as a switch board operator and later moving into a Supervisor position. When dialing "0" there was always the hope that you would hear her sweet voice. She was a lover of classical music which she always played during our large Sunday night suppers. Jeanne was always young at heart. She was an avid collector of dolls, stuffed animals and trinkets. She was a maker of lists. A fanatical bird feeder. A lover of cats & sheep. Like her mother, she was soft and loving but could have a red hot temper. We will miss our Jeanne so very much but find comfort in knowing that she is in the arms of her dear sweet mother once again.
The family would like to thank the staff at Arbourstone for their care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral to be held at St. Angnes Catholic Church, 6903 Mumford Road on Friday, July 8th at 10am with a reception to follow.
Jeanne will return home with her sister Anne and a burial will be at a future date.
