Grover, Audrey Marie 82 Dartmouth - Audrey Marie - It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Audrey Marie Grover, born September 15, 1931, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family Saturday March 22, 2014. Audrey succumbed from complications due to cancer .
She will always be remembered for her strong spirit, her sometimes witty sense of humour, determination and her kindness in that she thought of others more than herself. Audrey was pre-deceased by her parents Eileen (Murphy) and John Hiltz, former husband Raymond MacDonald, brothers Johnny, Harold, Gerald, Roy and Don and sisters Phyllis, Joan, Dorothy and Rita, granddaughter Tammy Brekker. She is survived by her husband William (Bill) Grover, son Cyril MacDonald (Faye), daughters Donna Brekker (Mike) and Heather Hunter (Kevin), stepsons Arnie (Mary), Bobby, grandsons Cyril, Vaughn (Katie), Robin, Terry (Tanya), step grandson Ian, granddaughters Deanna, Tanya (Shawn), Tara, great grandsons Kirklen, Ben, Jayden great granddaughters Melissa, Kaitlyn, Sierra, Ava and Sydney and great great grandson Tay Shawn. Audrey lived a full life and liked to keep busy as she was always on the go. She enjoyed going to country dances on Saturday nights with her husband Bill and many friends. Audrey also liked to stay at home and enjoyed decorating her home. She loved having family get to-gethers for meals as well as hosting family birthday parties. Audrey had a great love of flowers and gardens. Other interests included baking, shopping, bingo, playing cards. Audrey enjoyed her trips to the valley for apple picking with Bill and her good friend Gloria Pottie. Audrey and Bill were always cat lovers and had many pet cats over their years together including Dagwood, Miss Kitty and Jerry. Audrey looked forward to and always enjoyed her mini family vacations away to Liscombe Lodge. Audrey will sadly be missed by brother in laws John MacDonald, Danny MacDonald, Joe Grover(Mary), sister in laws, Myrna Tait, Shirley Green(George) and their families as well. Her lifelong friends Trudy MacKintosh, Vida and Ronnie Hanrahan and Beatrice and Jim Francis as well as her great neighbors Fred and Gail Sanford and Ray and Mary Hill. Audrey's family would like to say a special Thank You to her caring and supportive doctor Stephanie Snow, the compassionate nurses at the cancer care clinic and the staff of the palliative care team. The VON nurses and her nurse Shauna. Funeral arrangements are in care of Cruikshank's funeral home on 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax, N.S. Visitation to take place at 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Funeral service in Audrey's memory to take place on Thursday March 27, 2014 at 1pm at the funeral home.
