Arthur Christie Cookson Beaman, age 72, of Halifax passed away September 17, 2013 at the QEII. Born in Halifax he was the son of Arthur (Sr.) and Dorothy Beaman of Halifax. Started sea experience at 16 in Baffin Island with BI0, then 34 years working at DND in various positions but fondly remember as boswain on M/V St Charles and coast tugs M/V Glenside/Glenbrook. Arthur had held various position within Spryfield Legion #152 and past president of UNDE #405. Also volunteer with Northwood Manor Scouts Canada and coached little league baseball. He will be missed by family & friends. Survived by his wife of 47 years, Alexis (Ash); daughters, Christine (Garrison) Halifax; sons, Christopher, Port Williams, Arthur, Halifax, Roland, Halifax; brothers William, Halifax, Roland, Kentville as well as 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy; brother, Gordon; sisters Sharon, Susan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19 from 7-9 pm in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, (455-0531). Interment to be held at a later day at the Gates of Heaven in Sackville, NS.
