Albert James Hartling, husband, father, son, brother and dear friend, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 1, 2019. Born in Halifax on December 28, 1947, he was the son of the late Orion and Gladys (Rudolph) Hartling.
Bert is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon (Fowler); children, Adam (Carina Gjerdrum), Scott (Nancy Wingfield), Amy (Edwin) Gaskin and Sarah (Mark) Askeland; siblings, Orion (Judy) and Gladys (Rene) Leclerc, and was predeceased by his brother, Hubert (Anne). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Bert was a proud grandfather to Simon, Freya, John, Ben, Ella, Hannah, Olivia, Sawyer, Max, and Brody, who loved him dearly.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, from 3:30 – 5:00 pm and 7:00- 9:00 pm at Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. The family invites you to join them in a celebration of Bert’s life on Saturday, January 5, at 11 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Halifax, 205 Lacewood Dr.
