Dr. Alan Wallace MacIntosh, 80, died at the QEII Health Sciences Centre on June 8, 2010. Born in Charlottetown, PE, he was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. (Maclaughlan) John Wilfred MacIntosh. He received undergraduate degrees in Arts and Education from Dalhousie University from which institution he also received his MA. His Doctor of Philosophy was conferred by the University of Toronto.
His teaching career began at the University of King’s College in 1958 and in 1960; he joined the History Department of Acadia University where he taught for 32 years until his retirement.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Alexander and Dr. John MacIntosh Jr. Survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Nellie (Waring), his cousin Charles MacIntosh QC, and five nephews.
The body is resting at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive where visiting hours will be from 6-8pm on Friday, June 11th and the funeral service will follow on Saturday, June 12th at 11am in the chapel. Rev. Tom Woods officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of choice.
