Born on May 13th 1930, the son of Samuel & Rae Zaentz, he graduated from Hackensack High School, received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Rider College and then served 2 years in the U.S. Army at Fort Dix.
After leaving the Army, he took on the responsibility of running the family's small hardware business and as a result of his hard work, his innovative skills and his determination to be successful, that small retail hardware business grew to become a major source of supply in the metropolitan NJ/NY area, having the reputation for providing the highest quality and widest variety of commercial hardware and industrial supplies.
In addition to ZAENTZ Hardware Wholesalers, Inc., he succeeded in starting a trucking company, Express SDZ & then became a success as an owner & developer of commercial real estate.
His love of horses & the pageantry of horse racing, inspired him to follow his dream of one day owning a racehorse. With one thoroughbred, Fancy Farm was established, and grew to include a stable full of horses & a successful breeding and racing program.
He made a positive impact on all who crossed his path in life. A humble, moral man, of high integrity, who always listened & always extended a helping hand.
His family was his priority & he is survived by his loving wife Carol, son Gary Zaentz, grandchildren David, Liz, Danielle & Derek, son Robert Zaentz, daughter-in-law, Stephanie, grandchildren Jeffrey, Paola & Jessica, daughter Ellen Schauer, son-in-law Gary, grandchildren Marc, Eric, Phoebe & Alana, great grandson Brayden Henry and daughter Barbara Abrams, son-in-law Louis, grandchildren Lauren & Alyssa.
A funeral service for Sidney will be held Sunday, December 24, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601. Following the funeral service will be an interment at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652.
