Eyal Gabay was a person to love. He was born on May 20, 1963 and left us gently on January 31, 2023. He is deeply missed by his wife of 34 years, Beth, and he is the eternal hero of his three children: Dean, Aaron, and Romy. Eyal has left a gaping hole in the hearts of all who knew him for his courage, his integrity, and his perseverance. He is also survived by his sisters Galia and Sharon (Erez), mother-in-law Sherry (Cy), and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and dear friends. He is predeceased by his father, Moshe, his mother, Eva, and his father-in-law, Harlan.
Eyal had many business ventures and was a master of his craft who loved to build homes from the ground up – and he fixed everything himself. Eyal was an accomplished athlete, a soldier, a world traveler, a lover of music, and an excellent father. He also had a great smile.
But Eyal enjoyed the simple pleasures in life the most: eating fruit on his back porch, sitting on the beach and taking in the sun, and indulging in cigars with friends. He was patient and calm, and he challenged you to be the best version of yourself each day. Eyal squeezed every last drop out of life and lived more in 59 years than most would live in 100. He was our best friend.
The family hopes for you to live life as Eyal did. He was not deterred by danger or pain. He has completed his journey on earth, and his wife, children, and sisters held him close during his final hours. May his memory be a blessing to us all.
Donations to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Eyal’s memory will be gratefully accepted to help future patients and their families to defeat cancer. Visit mskcc.org or send a gift to MSKCC P.O. Box 5028 Hagerstown, Maryland 21740.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park Street Hackensack, NJ 07601. The family will sit shiva from 5:00-8:00pm on Thursday, February 2 through Wednesday, February 8.
