Esther was born on March 14, 1949 in Frankfurt, Germany to parents Philip and Miriam Curland. She grew up in the Bronx and never lost the accent. After graduating from Fort Lee High School, she went on to earn a degree in Elementary Education from Boston University.
She taught elementary school for six years in Teaneck, Wyckoff, and Rochelle Park. She later became Director of Human Resources for the Jewish Home Family for 21 years.
In August 1968, Esther met Sheldon Stone and they married in 1970. Esther was a very devoted wife and loved Sheldon’s terrific sense of humor. They had two daughters, Lesley-Anne and Jaime.
Esther loved nothing more than her family. She had a passion for life and believed you should treat others the way you want to be treated. Her favorite pastimes included theater, musicals, cooking, watching The View and going on annual summer trips to Ocean City, Maryland with her family. She was artistically gifted and used her skills to make amazing crafts for her daughters and later her grandchildren. Additionally, she had a passion for good gossip.
She is survived by her loving husband, Sheldon, of 52 years; her children, Lesley-Anne and Jaime; four grandchildren, Dylan, Sam, Brendan, and Casey; her sister, Renee Schwam, and brother Nathan Curland; her sons-in-law, Dave Malkoff and Dave Santin, who both agree she was wonderful.
