Ronald Alan Hernandez

Texas, leaving a legacy of devoted love, generosity, and humor. He was born on July 6, 1961, in

San Jose, California, and lived most of his life in Waukegan, Illinois. He also lived in Texas and

worked in San Antonio and Houston for a while. In 2021, he decided to retire to his second

home state of Texas, buy land, and raise animals to live his dream.

Ron married his loving wife, April, later in life and had two children, Delia,14, and Aaron, 12. He

was the strength and great love of his wife. His family was the center of his world. He worked

hard to provide for them, protect them, and pass on to them the values of family and fulfilling

their purposes in life as God’s children. He was a “hands-on” dad vital to his children’s daily

lives. He retired early from a long career in the Waukegan Public School District and was

grateful to spend so much time with them early in their lives.

He was also a wonderful brother to his siblings, Alex Hernandez, Jr., Roberta Hernandez,

Anthony Hernandez (Nellie), and Regina Agos (Tom). His love, support, and enjoyment of family

gatherings through the years leave many warm memories. He leaves nieces and nephews with

whom he was closely connected as they grew up.

Ron was loved and known as a good friend by many. He was the best friend one could wish to

have, the person who had your back, the most selfless and caring. The one you could call

any time of day and night to bail you out of whatever trouble you got into. He made

everyone feel special. He never let anyone be hungry, thirsty, hurt, or feel out of place. His

generosity and care for those in his life enriched anyone with the privilege of sharing life with

him. He especially enjoyed sharing his love for the Chicago Cubs and other sports teams.

Ron is preceded in death by his mother, Elvira Hernandez and father Alex Hernandez, Sr., his

grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Visitation for Ron will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marsh

Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031.

The funeral service will be held Friday, February 23, 2024, viewing will be at 10:00 AM and

service starting at 11:00 AM at Marsh Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Ascension

Cemetery.
