Dorothy Louise (Gohlke) Haag Miller passed away unexpectedly January 26th, 2024 at the age of 99 years old. She was born July 29, 1924 in Fond du Lac, WI to Otto & Hattie Gohlke. Dorothy was the youngest of 5 children. Growing up, Dorothy used to play guitar and sing commercials for a local radio station in Fond du Lac.
Dorothy met, fell in love, then married Melvin Carl Haag on August 30, 1941 and moved to Waukegan, Illinois. They had 3 children together: Melvin (Maureen) Haag Jr. of Lantana, TX; Lawrence (Carol) Haag of Moraga, CA and Karen (Thomas) Fritts of Waukegan, IL. Mel & Dorothy were married for 42 years until Mel passed away in November 1983.
In July 1984 Dorothy married a recently widowed and longtime friend of the family, Orville J. Miller. They were married for 16 years until Orv passed away in July 2000.
During her marriage to Mel, Dorothy was a homemaker for many years and then worked in retail, working her way up to manager of Neisner Bros. until they closed, and then as a department manager at Zayre. She retired from Zayre during her marriage to Orv.
Dorothy & Orv were part of the Steelworkers Club in Waukegan where they coordinated and led many trips for them. They also enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada, and having garage sales.
Dorothy was an avid bingo player. She loved knitting, crocheting, crafts and word search puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and both husbands. She leaves behind her 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 11 great-children.
Dorothy will be greatly missed.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held Friday, February 2nd, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 North Cemetery Road, Gurnee, Illinois 60031. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 620 West Grove Avenue, Waukegan, Illinois 60085. A committal service will occur Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Northshore Garden of Memories, 1801 North Green Bay Road, North Chicago, Illinois 60064.
