Betty Hawkins passed away gently on June 19th , at 89 years of age. She was the treasured wife of Captain Kenneth R. Hawkins, mother of Cheryl Puchalski (Richard), James Hawkins, and Cindy Seng (William).
She was preceded in death by her husband Ken, mother Edith Barkow (nee Pearson) and father Walter Barkow, as well as her beloved brother Carl Barkow and sister Helen Keenan (Donald). Her grandchildren are Cliff Puchalski (Cindy), Laura Goodloe (Jeff), Cassie (Perry) Seng, Brett Seng, Bryon Seng, Kris Hawkins and Drew Hawkins. Her great Grandchildren are Jack, Ellyson, Gracyn Perry and Jimmy Puchalski. Special to her as well nephew Matthew Keenan (Eleonora) and daughter Bridgette. Betty and twin sister Grace were born and raised in Marquette Michigan. She came to Chicago in the 1940’s looking for employment and met her husband Ken.
Betty had a rich life, her adventures included living in France while Ken flew Army Air missions. Later in life, she accompanied Ken on many boating trips including the Mississppi River, the Bahamas and many other adventures upon their Grand Banks, named The Valhalla. Ken went on to build his company Kenall, and hand in hand they built a family beginning in Skokie and then Libertyville. She was a simple woman of few needs, but gave so much to others, and was a precious soul to all.
Visitation and Services to be held at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee, Illinois, on June 23rd 5-8pm. Memorial Service at 11am June 24th, interment at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, IL.
