Arthur “Art” Catania was born on October 16, 1943 and entered eternal rest on September 25, 2024. He was born and raised in Chicago and resided in Palatine, IL for the past 20 years. In his young adult years, Art played baseball and football, including some time in semi-pro football. His passion for football carried on with the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame Fighting Irish as his favorite teams to root for. He completed a degree in marketing and then enlisted in the US Army serving as a crypto-operator in Germany during Vietnam. After returning to the states, with his gift of personal relations, he pursued a successful sales career through selling insurance with Prudential, business ads with Southwestern Bell and security services with Kane Security and Burns International. Art was an accomplished golfer winning many tournaments at Deerfield Golf Club, including a hole in one. His favorite course was Pebble Beach in California, and he enjoyed many courses in Myrtle Beach with close friends. Art was a very caring and loving man and cherished making others smile or laugh by his outright playfulness. His nickname was Buddy because that is what he was to others.
He will be very dearly missed by his two daughters Angie (Dan) Hilliard and Jennifer Catania, grandchildren Jacquelyn and Anthony Hilliard, grand-dog Tacoma, his sister Lee (D. Pete) Pasek, and his nieces and nephews Kathy (D. Don) Dompke, Connor Dompke, Ken (Lisa) Witek, Cooper and Cole Witek.
