Ron - Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Friend was loved and will be missed beyond measure by his family and friends. Survived by his wife Leilani, children Geoff (Gina), Steve, Corinne (Martin), Kennah (Robert) and Grandchildren Jenelle (Amber), Tyler, Ryan, Liam, Caleigh, James, Nicole (Mike) and Brother Barry (Karen).
Ron was born in Winnipeg Manitoba in 1938 to predeceased parents George and Dorothy Chubb. He started his 45-year career with Moore Business Forms rounding it out with Plant Manager roles in Trenton and Fergus. Ron and Leilani were lovingly married for 65 years. He loved his family dearly, watching young grandkids locally at hockey, dance, and other activities.
Socializing with family, be it locally, in western Canada and even internationally to Australia,
family gatherings will not be the same as Ron was instrumental in keeping them creative and fun events.
Ron was as busy in retirement as he was at work. His passion for the banjo and music played right up to his passing. Ron played in two bands, a Dixieland band called “Lady and the Gramps” and the “Proximity Pickers” a string band playing Bluegrass and Folk music. Ron was an artist and a teacher as demonstrated by his amazing and original stained-glass creations he shared with family, friends and his classes at the Arboretum to share his skills.
Ron loved being a part of his community at the Arboretum as demonstrated by having served on the VBA Executive as Vice President showcasing his leadership skills with kindness and grace.
Be it a music concert at the hall, on a driveway, or practicing at friends and neighbors the Arboretum was home base. Always a smile a wave and a “how are you today” as he strolled the community.
There will be a Celebration of Life planned at a later date.
