Matthew Carl Jonathan Benson

Beloved son to Bruce Benson and Shari Benson (Tammy). Loving Brother to the late Eric Anderson, Jordan Hewitt, Nick Benson, Aundre Benson, Aaron Benson (Alveena) Adria Benson (Je`Coby) and Bryar Kutschke. Cherished grandson to the late Debbie Reeve and John Reeve, William and Lorraine Anderson, the late Carl Benson and Frances Benson. Adored nephew to the late Billy Anderson, Brian Anderson (Ashley) Carla Benson-Green (Ernest), Michael Benson (Delphine) Pamela Mann and Trina Walker. He will be missed by many extended family and friends.

Matthew was as unique as they came, what you saw is what you got. He had a big personality and wise beyond his years. He loved his family wholeheartedly and was very close to them as they were a big part of his social life for him with his illness. His family and friends shared many activities together, loved playing all games in a competitive banter, kind spirited and fun manner. He loved to spend Sundays watching football, especially the Cowboys with his dad. He was respectful, mannerly, pleasant and always liked to help others out, especially opening doors for people. He believed first impressions were lasting impressions, so he made sure he looked respectable and proper when leaving the house. Matthew left us with a lifetime of memories in his 22 years of life. We will find comfort knowing he is in heaven with his big brother Eric, watching over us.

The family would like to thank McMaster Children's Hospital, Sick Kids Hospital, St. Joes Hamilton Hospital, Grand River Hospital, Guelph General Hospital, Grand River and Guelph Dialysis Units for their ongoing care of Matthew from the time he was a baby up to his last days of life.

Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph, ON. A Visitation for Matthew will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, in the funeral home chapel. A Livestream link is available on Matthew's memorial page (https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/105038). Reception to follow. As per family request, this will be a light scent event.
