Doris Wilkinson

Doris (McCrea) Wilkinson Doris Vera (McCrea) Wilkinson left us on Thursday April 5, 2012 in her 95th year to be with her beloved husband Burnett and her sisters Isla (Lolly) and Verna. She is greatly missed by her sister Mabel Youn, daughter Beth Taylor (Doug), sons Ron, Jim (Johan), Greg (Maggie) Grandson Geoffrey (Julie) and by Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren Devin, Brad, Stuart, Brianna, Lindsay, Katelyn, Joshua, Sophie and Araceli. Born in Mount Forest April 8 1917, Doris spent her early years in her beloved Saskatchewan, graduated from Stratford Normal School and taught in one room school houses around Mount Forest. Doris had a wonderful impact on the many children she taught, cared for, nurtured and advocated for – she shared her gift lovingly. Doris left her gentle touch on so many lives. She was always an active leader in her church through Mission Circle, Young Peoples, Junior Church Programs and Deacons Board at First Baptist Church in Guelph. She was active in the School Parent Associations and President of IODE. Doris was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who cherished her 65 year marriage to her life partner Burnett. She was his business partner and business ambassador as well. Heartfelt thanks to Maria Cameron for her friendship and support and also to the caring and thoughtful staff of Riverside Glen. Friends will be received at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, from 12 noon - 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012. A Funeral Service for Doris will be held in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Alzheimer Society of Guelph-Wellington would be appreciated by the family.
