Donald Gordon Young

Don died peacefully after a sudden illness at Guelph General Hospital (GGH) on May 27, 2021.

Cherished and loving husband of Maureen (formerly Hutton, nee Marrin) Young. Proud and loving father to Duncan (Kate) Young and Alicia Young. Devoted grandfather to Griffinn Young and Mikella Francis. Dearest brother of William Young (Penny) of Ottawa. Pre-deceased by brother Robert Young (2017) and survived by sister-in-law Louise Gadbois of London. Dearest nephew of Dorothy Antrobus of Hamilton. Esteemed uncle of Troy Oakoak (Marla) of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

Loved and missed by Maureen’s children Lindsay Hutton, Greg (Erin) Hutton, and Jenn Hutton (José). Grandchildren Nick Perry (Dani) and Natalie and Lucas Bouwmeester as well as Isla, Cora and Daphne Hutton. Brother-in-law of Kathy and Denis Fitzgerald, Sean and Jeannie Marrin, and Kevin Marrin and his wife Karen Campbell.

The family wishes to thank the incredible staff (nurses, social workers, and medical staff) of GGH ICU. We will never forget your support, compassion, and excellent care of Don/Dad/Grandpa.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Ronald McDonald House Charities. Both causes were close to Don’s heart.

A celebration of life will follow at a later date when we can all gather together again.
