Steve Roper, age 62 of Grove City passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 8, 2023. Steve was born in Columbus, OH to the late Joe R. and Glenna L. (Walton) Roper. He graduated from Grove City High School (class of 1978) where he played on the basketball team and attended Sinclair College where he also played basketball. Steve had a long career in car sales, most recently at Funky’s and Fenice Auto. Steve never met a stranger. And was loved by everyone. He had a tremendous sense of humor and an outgoing personality. He would do anything in the world he could for anyone. He was a member of Columbus/Grove City BPOE Lodge #37 where he was active cooking meals and holding court at Roper’s table. The Elks Lodge and its members were his family. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and car enthusiast. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved son Evan Roper. Steve is survived by his sister Julie (John Hackworth) Friesen; nephew Joe (Erin) Holland; nieces Amy (Steven) Rinehart, and Heather (Dennis) Jacob; great-nieces and nephews; aunt Maggie Walton; former mother-in-law and dear friend Joann Head. Steve’s family will receive friends 11-2 PM Saturday, May 13 2023 at Schoedinger Grove City 4242 Hoover Rd (Hoover Rd at Kingston Ave) where a Funeral Service will follow at 2 PM. BPOE Service 1:45 PM Saturday. Steve would want all of his friends to remember and never forget, “I’M BIG, BAD ROPE AND I’M EVERYWHERE!”
