Ruth “Annabelle” Van Meter, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Kobacker House. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Anderson and Martha Jean (Shook) Van Meter. She is survived by her sister, Laura (Rolf Reslokken) Van Meter, nieces, Marthe (Magnus Restan) Reslokken, Marie (Magnus Dahlseng) Reslokken, Mia (Thomas Gulliksen) Reslokken, great niece, Astrid Restan Reslokken, and a circle of loving friends. Annabelle graduated from the Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing, received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the Colorado Women’s College, and received a School Nurse Certificate at Wright State. Throughout her professional career, Annabelle was dedicated to working with the marginalized in our community. She worked in Home Care, served as Director of the TB Clinic for Columbus Public Health Department, provided care for the Health Care for the Homeless part of the Columbus Neighborhood Health Center, Inc., and retired as a Certified School Nurse working for Columbus City Schools, providing care for students at Colerain Elementary and Mound St Elementary. She was a member of the Ohio School Nurse Association and worked with the Parish Nurse Community. Annabelle was an active member of the University Women’s Club of The Ohio State University and participated in many activities and volunteered at the Buckeye Bargains Thrift Store where she helped raise funds for student scholarships. She loved crafting and worked with Toymakers to make small stuffed toys given to sick children and the elderly in nursing homes. She also worked with Yarns and stitches to knit scarves and hats for cancer patients. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 6-8:30 indoors at Whetstone Park of Roses. Cremation arrangements by SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY.
